Bus networks

We urgently need an efficient network of buses that connect our community to jobs, major precincts and health and education facilities.

The NCA's Bus Network Study is a comprehensive evidence-based report that outlines recommendations which will significantly improve connectivity across our region.

We need an efficient network of buses that connects our community to major precincts and health and education facilities.

This would include:

  • buses replicating the future Suburban Rail Loop route

  • improved services to key precincts such as Melbourne Airport

  • services to education facilities such as La Trobe University

  • improved SmartBus access

  • increased services in growth areas.

  • better links with bus timetables and local train services.

Lack of adequate transport across our northern growth areas in particular is a serious issue. We need to move quickly now to make sure that plans are in place for our future residents and businesses.

Acknowledgement of Country

The Northern Councils Alliance acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Taungurung people, who are the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Melbourne’s north. We recognise the rich Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage within our region and their deep and continuing connection to land culture and waters.  We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Elders past, present and emerging who have and continue to reside in our region and are an important part of our region’s history and future.
